What is conservation land management?

Conservation land management means caring for land so that native plants, wildlife habitat, soil and water stay healthy alongside how the land is used. It covers revegetation, weed and pest control, habitat corridors and rehabilitation of degraded areas. The Ag & Hort School's online courses teach these skills for farms, reserves and parks.

Why study conservation with us

  • Written for land managers – the focus is on what you can do on the ground, like revegetating a creek line, controlling weeds, planning a corridor or rehabilitating an eroded slope.
  • Farm-friendly – conservation planning that works alongside grazing and cropping, not instead of it.
  • Survey and plan – learn to run flora and fauna surveys and turn them into a practical management plan.

Conservation course FAQs

Bush regeneration is the practice of restoring native vegetation by helping it recover naturally. Mostly that means removing weeds carefully and protecting the site so native plants can re-establish. It's often combined with revegetation (planting) where natural recovery isn't enough. Professional bush regenerators often hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, and industry accreditation requires field experience.
