What is a horticulture course?

A horticulture course teaches the science and practice of growing plants, including identification, soils, water, propagation, pests and diseases, and plant care, for gardens, nurseries, parks and food production. The Ag & Hort School offers six online horticulture and landscaping courses, from a two-module foundation certificate to a four-module plant science program.

Why study horticulture with us

  • Plants first – identification, botanical names and plant selection come before anything else, because everything in horticulture depends on knowing your plants.
  • From hobby to business – take the foundation certificate for your own garden, or add Horticulture Resource Management to plan a nursery or maintenance business.
  • Design and build – the landscaping modules take you from concept plans to paths, walls, planting and project management.
